The Borderlands in the World of Nahclev Lel

BORDERLANDS

At the far reaches of human exploration lie the Borderlands. Humans, ever expanding their domain, trek into the lands of the old races. This is where they find both wonders and creatures, rare and dangerous. Humans have discovered the ancient homelands wherein live the Dwarf, Elf and Half-Ling. They have encountered Orcs, Goblins, Beastmen and the Dark Elves.

So far, the Human settlers have learned to live peaceably with the friendlier races. Conflict still rages however with the enemies of mankind, Dwarf and Elf alike. Widespread towns linked through a common bond of trade and kinship strive to survive and flourish. The City of Burridam lies in the farthest province of the Empire. All lands beyond it's walls are the wilds of the Borderland.

The greatest of the settlements is the City of Burridam, a cesspool of humanities worst. Freedom loving folk flee beyond it's gates to venture into the unknown lands. The outlying towns of Ericksbaum, Scarpstead, Glasstor and Erindal make up the Borderlands.

Burridam is known for its wealth, trade, rare items and slaves. It is inhabited by Humans and few other unenslaved races. Ericksbaum is known for forestry, it is inhabited by Humans, Elves and Half-Elves. Scarpstead known for it's gems and precious metals is a Dwarven Town. Glasstor is known for it's livestock, it is inhabited by many races and has a large population of Half-Lings. The most outlying of the settlements is the Town of Erindal. It is known for it's trade in wool and fur and is inhabited by a variety of races, predominantely human. It is a town that attracts all types of restless adventurers.

Each town is governed by a chosen Elder. The Tradesmen, Master Craftsmen and Healer of each town make up a governing council. Each town supports the other when under attack. There is a Border Patrol that rides between each of the towns except for Burridam and Erindal. The city of Burridam is controlled by it's Duke. Who has little control over the outlying towns other than the city's importance as a major trade and shipping center.

To the west of Erindal (6-9) lies the Great Forest, domain of the Elven Kingdoms. To the east in the Barrier Mountain (127-130) lies the domain of the Dwarven Lords. The south is cut by the Fang Mountains (10, 22, 33, 44, 54, etc) home to Orcs, Goblins and many other vile creatures. To the west and north (1-5, 12) lie the lands of the Empire. To the north lies Krags Deep (13, 24, 5, 36, 37,47,59) with Scarpstead carved from it's living rock. To the far north (34, 56, 78, 100, etc) lies the Burning Wastelands.
