Kurt Ortenburger (1911-1943) worked on the Ortenburger family research before 1937. The Germans had to do this to prove their German heritage. This family tree showed the progression of the Ortenburger family line back to the year 1642. There is one mistake on it at the top. Johannes Ortenburger married Anna Maria Dittert, but he also divorced her in the year 1668. She was pregnant by another man before the marriage of Johannes. Johannes did not know this, he found out later & so the Evangelical church granted a divorce to Johannes. Johannes then married Anna Maria Althens on August 04, 1668 in Pohlgöns, Germany. Anna Maria Althens is part of the direct family line, not Anna Maria Dittert. This divorce was listed in the Niederkleen Evangelical church book. Kurt missed the story when researching. Rick missed the story in 1997 while researching the church books also. But Rick did find the story about the divorce in a book extract at the Evangelical archive in Boppard, Germany in 1997. Christl Ortenburger, who also went to the archive in 1997, found the actual church page. We put everything together & realized the mistake. I found the marriage of Johannes Ortenburger to Anna Maria Althens also in 1997.

From this tree, Horst always then worked on the Ortenburger family tree to further his line. The tree is broken into 7 sections for placement on this web site. One will find the 13 children of Johann David Ortenburger & his 2 wives shown on this tree, starting with August (Eduard) Ortenburger, Rosina Ortenburger, Heinrich (Anton) Ortenburger, Johann (Josef Balthasar) Ortenburger, Pauline Johanne Ortenburger, Sophie Henrietta Ortenburger, Antonia Eleonora Ortenburger, Johann David II (David Johann) Ortenburger, Julius Ortenburger, Karl (Eduard) Ortenburger & Christian Friedrich Ortenburger. Two children are shown with no name, one is Franziska Ortenburger & the other is Auguste Emile Ortenburger.
