Much of this information was provided by Christl Ortenburger & some was also documented from the Ludwigsthal Church book for the towns of Erdmannshain & Boronow, Schlesien. I learned some of the information about August Eduard Ortenburger from a distant cousin. I did not know what village or town August Eduard Ortenburger died in, until contact (year 2002) with a very distant cousin, Marek Kociszewski, who told me where he lived & died. August Eduard Ortenburger was born on December 15, 1833 in Erdmannshain, Schlesien (part of the German Empire) & died October 31, 1919 in Lindow, Poland. He is buried at the Evangelical Lutheran cemetery, in Lindow, Poland. Tekla Ortenburger (Golombek) is buried in the Catholic cemetery in Dankow, Poland. Marek Kociszewski located me through an Internet email address directory. He emailed me Sunday afternoon May 19, 2002. I was sitting at my computer & an email message popped up. I did not know who this person was. But as I read his email I realized quickly that Marek Kociszewski knew very much about the family of August Eduard Ortenburger. Through Marek's help I realized that Wladyslaw Ortenburger had two brothers, Wojciech Ortenburger (1870) & Eduard Ortenburger (1868), that I had found previously, that were now linked to our family. I also learned from Marek that August Eduard Ortenburger married Tekla Golombek in the Catholic Church in Dankow, Poland & they also lived in Lindow, Poland. Marek's mother, Weronika Kociszewski (born Ortenburger 1914), remembers being with her Grandfather, August Eduard Ortenburger while her parents were away from the house for the weekend when he died. The family surname was found in Poland, Schlesien (the German Empire), Niederkleen & Giessen in the state of Hessen in Germany to year 1520. Johannes Ortenburger (born April 15, 1742 in Niederkleen, Germany & died September 25, 1790 in Erdmannshain, Schlesien) migrated to Schlesien from Hessen in 1785 with his family. One son survived the trip to Schlesien from Hessen, that being Johann David Ortenburger (born May 18, 1775 in Niederkleen & died December 02, 1835) in Erdmannshain, Schlesien). Johann David Ortenburger had 13 children with 2 wives; one child was my Great Grandfather August Eduard Ortenburger (1833). There is a Genealogy tag line I like, that I have used in my books. It reads; "Never, EVER give up!" - I didn't.
