Step 1. Rivet Method: This is the quickest and simplest procedure.
You will need, spare reeds from used reed plates or purchase reeds from Hohner Inc. or other manufacturers.

Step 3. Harvested Reed: The method for extracting a reed from a reed plate without removing the rivet from the reed is quite
simple. The end result should be an intact reed with a rivet protruding from the end of the reed.
Step 2. Insert the Rivet Head into the reciever hole in base of tool.
Hold the plate steady and bring down the sharp pointed steel pin down on the base of the rivet. Tap with
Hammer 2 or 3 times raising the Rivet Head. Secure the Rivet Head with pliers. Twist side to side and up. It should release.
If not repeat again, taping down gently, once or twice until it releases.
Step 4. Installing Harvested Reed. Center rivet over slot and hole. Secure in place with finger. Bring down flat head steel
pin on head of rivet and tap the rivet into the hole.
Step 5. Examine Reed for proper seating. It should be flat and even. Reed should be centered in the slot with even spaces
on each side of reed.
Step 6. Tightening Rivet. Place Rivet Head on flat receiver in the tool. Bring the sharp pointed tool down on the back of
the Rivet and strike 2 or 3 times very strongly. This will set the rivet by spreading out the metal shaft in the hole.
