Whitfaced Lutino Cockatiel Chicks

Cockatiels are one of the few birds that can be classified as domestic.  With consistent handling they make wonderful first pet birds.  A pet cockatiel was the first pet bird we purchased.  They are active and playful in and out of the cage and can learn words,  phrases and to whistle simple tunes.  We raise primarily Whitefaced Cockatiel Mutations, meaning they lack the typical orange cheek dot and yellow blush of normal tiels.  "Albino" is a misnomer since tiels lack this gene - they are referred to as Whitefaced Lutino.

Poorly bred Whiteface Tiels sometimes exhibit a bald spot under the crown feathers.  Ours do not exhibit this trait and are of exceptional size and feather.

We have just started handfeeding Goffin and Umbrella Cockatoos.  Raising the larger , higher end birds is proving to be a great learning experience.
