Additional Information

Let's face it - this campus has a very basic pH, at least a 12 or 13. (If you didn't just laugh, re-read that line.) So these pages are here to provide all the info that the other page doesn't. Business before pleasure, I guess, so I'll start with:

ph fields:

email: Why so many e-mail addresses, and what's "earthlink"? Well, The quantity part is just a little collection I'm starting. Earthlink is my ISP, and I use their e-mail address because for four years that I've used it, their mail server has never been down, and conversely for the students cluster :-) Don't worry, though; all of the listed addresses except for the ".com" ones all forward into the same box at Earthlink, so don't worry about any of them getting lost. And after three years of work, I've finally gotten my last department, astronomy, to be part of my collection. If this website is visually offensive to you and you wish to keep as far away as possible in the future, you can download my v-card which works in a number of e-mail programs. And if you're really paranoid, feel free to download my digital ID for secure e-mail. They are watching you, you know.

curriculum: Actually, It became "las4" after my third semester, but I'll be here a full four years. I guess that designation is the visible reward which the school gives to students who went registration-happy and took way too many classes way too quickly. I am really a senior, though, and have completed my Math/CS degree (but don't tell the school or they'll make me leave!)

major: I'm taking the college "sampler platter" What more is there to say? The records system shows me as pursuing my Astro degree, but seems to be ignoring my physics curriculum. I am, theoretically, a Physics major, honest! I guess that makes me a theoretical physicist...

phone: Anyone else at I.T. who sees my record might notice that I don't have the standard "365" prefix. That's because of the... uh... problems... that we've had with the phone system here. I object to being overbilled by a no-name phone company. So I asserted my right to be overbilled by Ameritech instead. Fortunately, the kind folks at my old summer job (who I still do dial-in work for during the year) have financed my preference for telephones that actually work.

schedule:

Ah, the joys of being a senior! :-)
e-mail tab:

What is this weird page? Well, despite what the search engines might hype at you, existing web portals aren't all that great. What is a portal? Well, it's a start page that supposedly contains all the info you look at regularly, so you can access it from anywhere. Since no one else has done a good enough job at it, I decided to make my own page, which will be in constant development here. You see that there is no small amount of code behind the page, so what does it all do? Well, after I type in my passwords in the box, I can either check my main e-mail account from whatever computer I'm at, check my various online bills, or shop at sites where I have a referral discount. (Feel free to use those links!) In the future, I can embed news sources, weather maps; whatever else I come across that would make sense. The key is that these are not just links; they actually log me in and take me to the page I want, with just one click. That's why all the code is needed. I actually exploit a few quirks of the browser to accomplish this - if you feel like a good brain teaser, try to figure out what I did.
