DISTANCE: 102 miles
The route starts out by heading over Sepulveda. It then begins a large circle by first heading to the northeast corner of the Valley, then west across the valley to climb over Santa Susana to Simi Valley. Then it's on to Moorpark for lunch before heading over Norwegian Grade to Thousand Oaks. Then you pick up Mulholland Hwy which takes you back to the west end of the San Fernando Valley. A trip back east through the valley and then back over Sepulveda finishes the day. The profile below exaggerates the steepness of the hills -- You should note that none of them are as much as 1000 feet. Norwegian Grade is probably the steepest and it is less than a mile long.
