Surname Search/ Special Search Engines:

These links are to some great search pages for finding surnames or other sources.

• I Tools - consists of "Find-it", "Promote-it" and "Research-it" The last is very useful
• The Internet Sleuth - is a 2-page combination of all types of searches
• The Search Helper - lists major search engines, tells how to use them and has hyper links to each one.
• I Found It! Genealogy Search Engine - is new, does not have many sites loaded, but you can add URLs
• The RAND Roots Surname List Search Database - an on-line database with search capability
• Genealogy Search - a data base of 250 million names that requires membership to search
• GEDscan - will search any GEDCOM file URL that you type in for a given surname (includes FTP sites)
• The Traveller Cousin Finder Page - has 250,000 + names in GEDCOM files/ submitter’s name and E-mail.
• YourFamily.Com - has searches for Family Home Pages and a way to submit yours.
• GenMatch - alpha index of surnames in data bases
• The Orphan Trains of Kansas - a new searchable web page

• Ancestry’s Social Security Death Index Search - is not a complete list of deaths, mostly in 1990's
• Online’s 1880 Federal Census Project - lists about 1% of the total 1880 Census
• Everton's Online Search - Roots Cellar data base search
• Searchable Genealogy Links - links to other sites with searchable data bases
• KY Vital Records Index - searches for KY Deaths 1911-92, Marriages 1973-93, and Divorces 1973-93
• Hood Co, TX Genealogical Soc. Index of Records -a site filled with Marriages/Birth/Death Records

• Genealogical Resources on the Internet - includes an alpha listing of the U. of Indiana Newsletter topics.
• The Genealogy Helplist -volunteers who live near Court Houses, Libraries, Archives/ will do research.
• Webring - This is a Web Ring organization, which includes a genealogy ring
• AL County Query Pages by Lisa Franklin - is an archive of all older AL GenWeb Queries.
• Welcome to Lafleur.Org - archive of Lafleur data & lost & found bibles. You can also list your bible data
• Genie-Link - has a big searchable list of Queries and a form to add your Query .
• Virginia Beach Genealogical Society has a "Surnames Wanted List -shows members’ ancestors/ not links
• GenRing - is an organization that links the world of amateur genealogists.
• First Name Basis (unusual 1st names)/Married Women Seeking Roots-queries for dead ends at wives.

• Complete List of LDS Family History Centers - listed by State and city.
• FTP List of all LDS State Research Guides On-line - print out almost exactly like FHS guides you buy
• The Geographic Nameserver - type in a town name, searcher will find all towns with that name in the U.S.
• The Boundaries of the Contiguous U.S. Page - shows growth of U.S. by year from 13 States to 48.

• InfoSpace- The Ultimate Directory - enter a city or town, see it on a map, and access info about it
