| This is
the page of 'The Mechanic', another larger Warren sculpture. |
|
 |
| The
theme
of this found object sculpture is mechanical mechanisms. It is
completely fabricated from the textured steel of automotive
transmission parts. |
|
|
|
| The
Mechanic has a handful of wrenches, and a small dark stone in the
center.
Have you ever needed a used part for your broken vehicle? It is hard to
get a deal from a junkman. |
| At
art
exhibits, men find The Mechanic a fascinating piece of sculpture. Often
they will stand around it naming which old vehicle the parts originally
came from |

|
| Most
automotive
steel can be welded. All machined gears, although hardened steel, can
be cut with a torch and welded with electric arc. |
|
 |
| I get
most of my
steel as gifts from people that know I build sculpture. Often I have to
take a bunch of extra metal to get the interesting textured steels that
I prefer using. It's all very heavy and people are pleased when I take
it off their hands. |
