Art Class
In high school my interests were mainly Art and Biology.
Oh yeah, I also protested saying the pledge of allegiance by rote, with no flags displayed in the classroom, but that was
the extent of my adolescent protest (which is still one of my issues today).
Our assignment for art class was to do five drawings a week.
Each of my drawings were usually graded E(excellent) but my overall
grade barely made S(satisfactory-above average) because points were taken off for not turning in all five drawings.

Who knows why I would take my drawing pad into the bathtub and draw
my legs and feet. Perhaps the novelty of it, or the challenge. I would often draw things to provoke my art teacher,
not knowing that of all teachers in high school art teachers were the least likely to be flustered by anything we
could do.

Now this may have upset my art teacher! But, it was a simpler time, when
teenagers could be trusted to own rifles.
Both these guns fired and I had them during my teen years.
The Mossberg was a target rifle, given to me as a present around the age of 16. The Arisaka was at my grandmother's
house all my life. Several of them were brought back from Japan by my uncle after WWII and we kids would play with them
from the time we could carry them. To this day is a scar on my knee, inflicted by the sword bayonet. When I reached
my teen years and found some 7.7 mm ammo, the gun was again fired. Range 3 miles - be careful was what the package said.
This rifle I claimed and cleaned it up and used it for a prop for this drawing.

This was an illustration for a poetic piece about our close relationship
with apes. Evolution, when I attended school, was still controversial even in St. Louis County and it is hard to think
that some people still don't accept it in the 21st Century.
Drawings from a young man's mind
Not all my drawings were from life. Some I made up entirely
from things on my mind, and in 1963, that must have been disproportionate girls. Yes, I did better in Art class than in Chemistry.

It was an innocent time
So, girls were on my mind, but just what was a guy supposed
to do with them. Wrestle of course!
