Why build one when you can have two at three times the cost?

Cost

This is not an unlimited budget project; actually most of the parts were made from scratch. Others were purchased from industrial supply houses often at very reasonable prices.

Some of the materials were even found in scrap bins. For free. Over the years I have collected quite a large amount of junk this way that I saved for no apparent reason. The best example was a 90 volt DC gear motor from a discarded prototype ultrasonic sewing machine that I “found” in 1985.  It was perfect for the main tread section drive motor.

Where appropriate (and safe) I will try to list costs. However to preserve my life any excessive prices are classified at the highest level, I will not have to kill you cause I will never tell, I ate the receipt, it fell off the truck, they were throwing it out, I got it at a great discount, made it myself from popsicle sticks and glue, ... you get the idea.

Of course there is no real problem, most of the major parts can often be found for very reasonable prices...
