Welcome to the CHicago Area Origami Society.

A place where Paper Comes to LIFE!

"As the Paper Folds the Mind Unfolds"

Who we are:

The Chicago Area Origami Society is a group of origami enthusiasts who are dedicated to the sharing and promoting harmony and friendship through origami, the Japanese art of paper folding.  We meet each month at the Garfield Park Conservatory, every 2nd Saturday of the month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

The workshops are FREE and OPEN to the public. No membership is required.

All ages and skill levels are welcome, but we ask that you not treat the group as childcare and leave young children alone.

Each month our small group of enthusiasts bring models to share and teach. Everyone is encouraged to teach to others, but nobody is expected to do so. If you're not comfortable teaching yet, please bring something else to contribute such as a model to show that you've enjoyed folding, an origami book or articles that others might find of interest.

If you have never folded before, no problem. No experience is necessary, we'd love to teach you.

No patience? Fold a simple model in a few minutes.

If you feel you're too slow, it doesn't matter we have 3 hours!

Origami is relaxing and non-competitive, yet stimulating and challenging. Learn a few basics from us and the doors to amazing models will be open to you.
