Sat. 5/31/03 1:14 PM: Myrphy NC. Bombing suspect Eric Robert Rudolph has been captured. Cherokee County NC law enforcement has apprehended the suspect behind a grocery store there today. The long standing manhunt has ended a 5 year long vigil trying to apprehend the man suspected of the Olympic Park bombing and other bombings in connection to abortion clinics, and an Atlanta gay bar.

Most likely there will be a deep inquiry into how Rudolph survived this long and who may have helped him. Rudolph was wearing jeans and a blue work shirt and gave officer Jeffrey Scott Postell no resistance. At first he gave officials a fake name, but later admitted to actually being Rudolph.

Eric Rudolph was reportedly getting his money from selling cocaine and is a known white supremacist. (no links yet as the story is too new)

Europe is launching its first mission to Mars, perhaps on Monday if things look right.

Thursday, 5/29/03: In this update, it seems that Canada is trying desperately now to do something about the spreading SARS problem they're having in Toronto. 5000 people are being quarantined.

I would think that the future of this disease is eventually it will go rampant and take its deathly toll if no immunization is found in time. We can not stop insects, much less eradicate a virus from the face of the earth. When that time comes, those that make it through will be immune. However the long term effects are not known and won't be.

Wednesday, 5/28/03: Here we have a typical example I believe showing the mishandling of a dangerous problem. The problem is with SARS. Public safety is getting muddled in bureaucratic red tape. The typical dilemma of following Political Correctness and trying to downplay real danger so as not to "upset" anybody. They sure wouldn't want to inflict any kind of emotional trauma on anybody by actually trying to take all precautions and making those not inflicted safe would they? It reminds me of how they handle AIDS.

The miranda warning is coming into the scrutiny of the Supreme Court again in the case of Chavez v. Martinez. Certain "torturous methods" were employed and now the "vicitim" is sueing the officer who shot him. This is dangerous ground when the police start using tactics that take away a person's rights. More news on this here.

fireSunday, 5/25/03: This is the start of my web page more or less. I am trying to see if I can make it an interactive site for the most part. I intend to do a blog format and see how it works. I've stumbled around the net for a number of years, finally figuring out I might as well be a part of it.  So with out further adieu!

"Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, the Senate Intelligence Committee's senior Democrat, said he was "beginning to believe" that the intelligence the administration claimed to have on Iraq's weapons program before the U.S.-led war to oust Saddam Hussein was not as sound as he had been led to believe."

Conservative:   Now see I have trouble with this since you have the leading democrat of the SENATE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE saying this kind of thing. Wasn't he one of the people advising the White House?

"CARDIFF, England, May 22 (UPI) -- A group of British scientists proposed Thursday the organism that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome might have originated in outer space. This extraordinary theory, appearing in a letter to the May 24 issue of the prestigious medical journal The Lancet, suggests, "if these bugs are coming from space, a scheme to monitor the stratosphere could be important," astronomer Chandra Wickramasinghe, director of the Cardiff Center for Astrobiology, told United Press International."

Conservative:   This is how science gets muddled to the point you can't believe in things any more. This seems to me nothing more than a group of "scientists" looking for funding. I mean, come on, Outer Space?

fireOpinion:What does being a conservative mean?: Well to me it means more than being a Republican or a Democrat. It is about living your life in the most honorable way you can. It's about trying to maintain a moralistic attitude when dealing with others in a fair and honest manner.

That does not place one in a passive role however. One must stand up for what they know does the most good for the most people. They must,(and I hope you do too) make their voices heard above the roar of political correctness. The false ideal liberalism founded on an imaginary world of everyone being impossibly equal in all ways. This is nothing more than the path to communism and totalitarian government.

Furthermore, there is a misguided notion that Conservatism means you are a strict republican, out for money, and making the rich more wealthy. If you are truly a CONSERVATIVE, moralistic behavior dictates that you do not take advantage of others, just to line your own pockets.

You believe in truth. Truth is an absolute and one is to be held accountable. It matters not what your station in life is. That goes for Presidents down to the lowest worker. True Conservatism would create a society of people who would require less and less government and the removal of the dishonest people involved in politics.

That said, and perhaps surprising to some, is that a true CONSERVATIVE I believe, finds fault when we are told that a war is about one thing, and then that thing doesn't materialize. Weapons of mass destruction was really what was hammered in at the start of the Iraq war and yet, where are they?

Of course I believe we were right to go in to Iraq and I think we did the right thing.

Accountability and truth. That is the CONSERVATIVE way.
