Faith (Siegelheim), Robert W., and Robert W. (Jr.) Tarrance. Chicago, IL. 2 August 1925.

Here you'll find more information about the TARRANCE surname in my family tree.

WHEN/WHERE: Primarily the Southern US (Georgia, Florida, possibly Alabama and/or the Carolinas); 1820-present. The surname spelling settled on Tarrance during the late 19th/early 20th century; previous to that, records indicate spellings of Tarance, Taurents, Taurence, and Tarrants, just to name a few! I'm currently looking at all surname variations.

Related surnames include BULLARD, CALDWELL, EVANS, HOBBS, HOLLEY, INFINGER, JONES, SIEGELHEIM, STUBBS, and STUCK.

WHAT I'M SEARCHING FOR NOW: My "brick wall" is my ggg-grandfather, Benjamin Tarrance. (See chart for more information about him.) His birthplace is variously listed as GA, AL, and TN. Although he survived the Civil War, he never returned home to his wife and child in Walton Co., FL. I'm currently scouring records for clues as to the identification of his parents and a firmer idea of his place of birth.
