I agree completely with your treatise. It's circumstance and evidence that convicts a suspect, and I believe that profiling is an art that ranks evenly with the polygraph. I believe, from the evidence I've seen, that Wayne Williams was not guilty, just a man caught up in a web of circumstance, and I believe the profiling, coupled with his own demeanor in his testimony and his foolish arrogance were his eventual undoing.
I also believe that the police know that he was not guilty; the child killings and disappearances continued unabashed even after his arrest, and they continue even after his conviction. Profiling a witchhunt? Absolutely!
The FBI should employ a psychic as a profiler's assistant; at least there's a chance that they may get closer to the truth. Maybe even start a 900 number to help people solve cases or make a profile and psychic divination of future mates; profits would go toward paying for research into legitimate crime solving techniques.
