QC Elementary/Secondary School's Response to Kreisle

Why assume cynicism? The teachers I know try very hard to help kids rather than hinder them. We have entered the postmodern age. More than one dialect of English exists. The child who is beginning to learn to read NEEDS materials that approximate the structures and vocabulary of language that is actually used at home and in the community. To assume that one dialect is superior to another is racist. To coerce a learner to use another dialect is racist too. No wonder your school system is in shambles. All the smart kids must drop out. Better to drop out than participate in a racist paradigm!
