I got my Ph.D. at the City University of New York's Graduate Center where I spent some of my happiest days. May the spirit of the original MassCult Research Group (circa 1986) live on forever. At the Grad Center, I had the opportunity to explore my interests in freedom and with tremendous support. My disssertation, "Ain't Nobody's Business": The Public Text of Michael Jackson, was a true labor of love. Recent events have caused me to re-think what the "text" of Jackson might really be about, but after much soul-searching, I've decided to return to the the project and transform it into hard-cover soon. Any interested publishers are welcome to contact me at any time. I also have a couple of other major academic projects on the way; once they're in print, you'll see plenty of info about them here on this site.
Before grad school, I lived away down South in Dixie where I earned myself a journalism degree from the University of Alabama. Me and Bear Bryant were tight. {grin}
I grew up in many places, but my earliest roots are in the Northeast. I spent many childhood years living on Long Island - better known as the stomping grounds of Rosie O'Donnell and Twisted Sister.
Faves and Guilty Pleasures on the web
Donald is the number One Access hack in Central Connecticut. He's single-handedly automated the voter registration process in towns and hamlets throughout his state. His page is devoted to PC Registration 'Lite,' a program originally designed as a free service to the community. And as for HTML, I taught him everything he knows (but I didn't teach him everything that I know! - {corny but true}). Seriously, Donald designed a beauty of a page for his organization.
