Tour of Wade's Gold Mill

Wade's Gold Mill and Mining Museum is located in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota.

You will find it at Hill City, SD. 3/4 miles out on the Deerfield Road. Come and see us.

Visit Wade's Mining Museum and see how mining was done back in the early days. See some of the old equipment still in operation. The old stamp mill, used to grind hard rock, is being run by an old upright steam engine. You can see it in operation during the summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

See how Mr. and Mrs. Les Wade built a Gold Placer Mill to recover gold from river bed gravel. It is currently being operated during the summer.

Learn to pan for gold. You can use some of the same placer gravel that is being put through the mill. You may find a little gold. Also you will find some interesting rocks and minerals, such as Quartz, Jasper, Garnets, Hematite iron ore and many other rocks and minerals of interest. Experience what the old prospectors had to go through to get a little gold.

Plan to spend a few hours when you come. It's fun for the whole family. Bring a picnic lunch if you like as we have some picnic tables available. Take a little time to relax and listen to the flowing stream.
