Reflection on the Curriculum

After September 11, the world is full of fear: Americans fear the foreign; foreigners fear American control; and, the world fears its future. Future educators must acknowledge the world that they live in and prepare their students to enter into it. The world, diverse in its many people and needs, has been torn apart by immorality and misdeeds; future educators must prepare students to welcome the diversity of the world and its people while preparing the learners to make moral decisions.
Future teachers should emphasize the welcoming of the diversity of the world in curriculum in order to educate students about the world’s many different voices and beliefs. A powerful curriculum that prepares the students to acknowledge the diversity of the world is an outstanding curriculum that prepares the students to enter the world as moral agents. In order to prepare students to be blessings in the world, students need to learn the importance of decisions. Educating students in morality and decision-making provides a student-centered atmosphere that engages the learner as an important part of the world who can make a difference.
