Foreign Language Curriculum Unit

This is a curriculum unit created to explore moral development while studying culture. The cultural theme is el Camino de Santiago. The moral theme explores travel as an activity other than being commercial. The vocabulary emphasizes travel and description vocabulary. The grammar focuses on commands, descriptions, giving directions. The target audience is a first- or second-year classroom. This lesson plan was created from scratch. Furthermore, the dual copies of the worksheets provide differentiation for an intermediate level and a beginner level.

Lesson Plan: Introduction to -AR Verbs (Spanish)

This is a lesson plan I created to introduce the grammatical structure of -AR verbs to first-year Spanish students. The text used is ¡Ven Conmigo! by Nancy Humbach, et. al. Holt, Rinehart, and Winston 2000.

As part of the educational process, I reflected on the lesson plan after presenting it to fellow future teachers. Read the reflective essay here.

Curriculum Unit: British Renaissance Poetry (English)

This is curriculum unit intended for eleventh grade British Literature. It is a detailed study of British Renaissance poetry. A majority of this lesson was actually taught at Lowell High School in Lowell, MI as part of my teacher aiding experience. This is a unit designed to be used with Prentice Hall. (1994). Literature: The British Tradition. (Paramount ed.). Englewood Cliffs:
Prentice Hall.

Curriculum Unit: Shakespeare's Othello (English)

This is a curriculum unit intended for an advanced-level of study of William Shakespeare's Othello. The unit, although intended for upper-level high school, could be adapted to introduce the students to the same material in a lower-level class. Furthermore, the unit focuses on a "case-study" of the text. The unit explores a gendered and racial reading of Othello.

A majority of these ideas have been created from scratch. Therefore, as a continuous learner, I am willing to accept feedback and further ideas from all parties. If you would like, please visit the Contact Information website or e-mail Matthew Miga.
