PENGUINS!
A few years ago, a couple pair of Jackass penguins (named because of their braying call) showed up on the beach at the boulders. Since then, thousands of the penguins have moved in here. Because they are a protected species, they have it soft. There are fences to keep dogs away, and they are given a couple beaches of their own. They don't stay there though.
As we were walking along the hillside heading for the penguin beach, we started noticing little black and white bumps underneath the bushes here and there. As we started down the path to the beach we could see penguins everywhere, digging little holes in the shade and napping. Down on the beach the penguins and people are separated by a rope, but that doesn't keep the penguins back.
One cheeky little devil came right up and bit our toes (a stupid tourist was poking his fingers at it before a heavily scarred man warned him that their bites were vicious, as evidenced by his scars). We spent about an hour watching the penguins swim, waddle and screw on the beach. At one point a whole 'flock' of them took off waddling up the path to find bushes for shade. Very cute, especially the fuzzy juveniles.
