Richard and Alison's Passat

We bought ourselves a GREAT Christmas present for the new (fake) millennium: A MY2000 Volkswagen Passat, with 1.8L Turbo, Tiptronic transmission and (most important!) a sunroof!

We have never owned a car before, so after lots of research we finally decided on the Passat. Of course, even if our research hadn't shown it to be one of the best cars out there, we probably would have chosen it because it looks SO COOL!
We really love our Passat! It drives wonderfully, and gets pretty good gas mileage (34mpg on a road trip from Los Angeles to the Bay Area). We've even met a number of like-minded folks on VW Vortex and Club B5. We even went on a factory tour and road rally with the Club B5ers! Of course, seeing the dozens of Passats, with their variety of modifications, has forced me to do a little tinkering. I've replaced the front corner lights with clear-corners (no more annoying amber stripe on the signals), added the "1.8T" badge to the rear end, and I've installed the Alien Technology remote window controller!

Of course, almost immediately after buying the Passat, I won an electric RAV4 from the LA Department of Water and Power. We went from no cars to two cars almost overnight. Sadly, I was only allowed to keep the RAV4 for 8 days. I drove the hell out of it though, and really loved it!
