May 15 ~ General Joseph Antenor Firmin is in control of the custom houses in the cities of Cape Haitien, Port de Paix and Gonaives. Ex president P. Augustin Tirésias Simon Sam departs on the French steamer Olinde Rodigues . Haitian Admiral Killick commands the Crete a Pierot and the Toussaint L'Overture . M. Bolsrond Canal , a former President of Haiti, is Provisional President. Exiles are returning from Jamaica.
