Doc Brass

the doctor is in A Century Baby and Renaissance man who led an iconic group of adventurers during the 1930's and 40's, Dr. Axel Brass disappeared in 1945 and was rescued by Planetary after spending 54 years, constantly awake, guarding a Snowflake dimensional portal against otherworldly invasion (Issue 1). The product of selective breeding started during the French revolution, Brass seems in many ways to be close to the pinnacle of human evolution. His physical and mental development is without equal. He has even developed some extraordinary powers, such as the ability to do without food or sleep, and he hasn't aged a day since his long isolation in 1945. His continued association with Planetary would seem to insure a reunion of sorts with Anna Hark, the daughter of his old teammate Hark.

Doc Brass, a man who embodies the days when the Pulp heroes dominated popular fiction, led a team of adventurers (introduced in both Issue 1 and a bit more in Issue 5) that mirrored other Pulp heroes of the time: Hark, the once-evil Asian super genius; Jimmy, a federal agent (or "G-Man"); The English Lord, also known as Kevin Sack, Lord Blackstock, a nobleman raised in the jungles of Africa; The Aviator, pilot and adventurer; Edison, unmatched scientist and inventor; and The Spider, a gun-toting, dark-cloaked mystery man waging war on crime.

After Brass and his team defended the world from an invasion that his actions had caused, he lay awake at the foot of a snowflake portal for over 50 years. Crippled and unable to call for help or close the portal, yet afraid to leave the location for fear another invasion force would pass through, he stood guard ntil the Planetary field team found him. Brass has stayed in the care of Planetary since his rescue, and serves as a sometime-advisor and confidant for Elijah Snow. One can't help but think that he will have a prominent role in the final battle with The Four.
