The Bulwer Lytton Fiction Contest: Here's your chance to write really bad fiction. Sponsored by San Jose State University, the object of the contest is to write a really bad first line of a novel. There are a number of categories, including romance, detective, western, etc.
The Children's Writing Resource Center, specifically for those of you who might want to write for kids. This is a commercial site, and so there's a lot of stuff offered for sale. Beware. But there's also lots of good advice here, as well as interesting links.
Inkspot. This site features market information, writers' tips, and many links.
Poets and Writers Online. The online versions of Poets and Writers Newsletter, this quality site includes markets, interviews, reviews, etc.
Pure Fiction. This web site says it's for "anybody who loves to read-or aspires to write-bestselling fiction." It includes reviews, previews, writing advice, and more.
Spike. The subtitle on Spike's homepage is "picking the brains of popular culture." This site contains interviews, features, writing, bookreviews, etc. This is not a site for those who are squeemish about sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
