David S Rowe was born 1842 in Richland Township, Beaufort County, North Carolina. He was the son of Asa Rowe and Frances Keel. During the year 1861, he enlisted in Company I, 4th Regiment North Carolina State Troops, to serve in the armies of the Confederacy during the War Between the States. Company I was known as the Pamlico Rifles. He died 31 May 1862 in the Battle of Seven Pines, Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia.
