Henry Peed
3rd great-grandfather.
Henry Peed has an estimated birth date of between 1739 and 1743 in Virginia. He married Tabitha Stringer, daughter of Edward Stringer and Frances Blackstone, between 1765 and 1766 either in Virginia or North Carolina. He was first found in Norfolk County, Virginia, records (1765), then in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, deeds (1768 through 1773), then in Nash County deeds (1778 through 1789), and finally in Beaufort County records. The land holdings of Henry in Edgecombe County and Nash County were in the Peachtree Creek area. When he migrated to Beaufort County around September 1789, he purchased property from Benoni Barnard. His will was dated 17 March 1792, no probate. His death was estimated to be 1792 in Beaufort County, North Carolina.
One of my lines of descent is through the marriage of Henry's grandson Bryan D Peed and Mary A Lane. Another line of descent is through the marriage of Henry's grandson John B Franklin Peed and Mary Susan (Peed) Rowe, who was a daughter of my ancestor George W Peed. Although these two Peed families share the same surname, extensive research has not revealed a lineal relationship between Henry Peed and George W Peed.
