Text Box: For the past 11 years, this has been a web site that I launched and maintained for a motorcycle club that I founded, The Far West Ramblers – a club based on the Virago and other Yamaha motorcycles.

As quite often happens, many clubs come to a point when the enthusiasm wanes and the attendance and participation is so reduced that it becomes time to dissolve the club while it is still in a positive mode.

Such a situation has arisen in The Far West Ramblers and the current officers have agreed to dissolve the club. As of September 30, 2005, the Far West Ramblers will no longer be an entity. Any use of the name Far West Ramblers or reference to the Far West Ramblers by others is not authorized or condoned by any of the existing officers or members.

Being a Virago and Yamaha enthusiast, I will continue to maintain this site, but on a personal level and not representing any club.

A new technical web site has been launched on the internet by Mac McCurdy, aka Dr. Lionel Piston, a long time technical advisor to me.  Mac has extensive mechanical knowledge of the Virago in particular.  His site contains detailed information about carburetors and extensive information on the early Virago starter problems.  As time goes on, Mac will be adding much more technical information to his site which you can access at www.drpiston.com

Editor's Note:  I have had so many requests for the definition or origin of "Virago" that I have decided to explain it here.
According to Webster, a Virago is a violent, loud-mouthed, ill tempered scolding woman of masculine strength and spirit.
