RICH'S INFLUENCES
When I first heard John Coltrane at the age of 12 years, I knew I wanted to play jazz saxophone. I
was enchanted with his sound even though I had no idea what he was doing harmonically. From that day on I made it my goal
to figure out and learn what he was playing.
Since then I have been affected and influenced by other musicians including, Charlie Parker, Johnny
Hodges, Cannonball Adderly, Joe Henderson, Paul Desmond, Phil Woods, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, Clifford Brown,
Blue Mitchell, Jaco Pastorius, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn and others. They have all had some influence upon my style.
