Place: Bosque del Apache, NM, USA
Date: December 2003
Equipment: Nikon N90S, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (= 600/5.6), monopod from car
Film: Fujichrome Sensia 100
Exposure: aperture priority matrix metered
Scan: Minolta Dimage, 70% of original frame

Commentary: Although I see a few snipe at Bosque del Apache each time I visit, this is the first time I've found any close enough to the road for photos. This was one of five birds keeping out of the cold wind along the Marsh Loop.

Here the snipe has just removed it's bill from the feathers of the back, To see the length of the bill a bit better, check this profile view.
