Commentary: Most of the photos of Sandhill Cranes taken at Bosque del Apache are of birds flying out of or into the night roost ponds, but since I see so many of them from other photographers I seldom take them. I always like habitat in my images, and love the look of this crane against the typical colors of Bosque del Apache. This was taken at the NE corner of the Farm Loop, where a small number of cranes hang out every year.
