Birds in Nature - images of wild birds by Richard Ditch

Subject: Roseate Spoonbill (Ajaia ajaja)
Place: Everglades National Park, FL, USA
Date: March 1986
Equipment: Nikon FE2, Nikkor EDIF 400/5.6, TC14 converter (560/8), tripod
Film: Kodachrome 64
Exposure: Aperture priority center weighted metering
Scan: Minolta Dimage, full frame

Commentary: Instead of the usual focus on the glorious pink color of this unique bird, I decided to emphasize the unique bill that gives this bird its common name. I also hope that this shot from over the shoulder of the bird inspires others to think about alternative viewpoints and to "think outside the box" of the suggested rules of good bird photography.
