Birds in Nature - images of wild birds by Richard Ditch

Subject: Royal Tern (Sterna maxima)
Place: Cape May, NJ, USA
Date: October 1987
Equipment: Nikon FE2, Nikkor EDIF 400/5.6 & TC14 (= 560/8), tripod
Film: Kodachrome 64
Exposure: Aperture priority matrix metered, natural light
Scan: Minolta Dimage, full height, cropped left side for balance

Commentary: At the time of this photo, all the resident Cape May Royal Terns had been banded - both birds in this image have silver bracelets. I've always had trouble dealing with multiple birds, and this one has it's problems but I like the overall look. The tight quarters on the right side are to minimize the out of focus tern still partly visible just below the post.
