Commentary: Eurasian Wigeons are rare to uncommon in North
America, but have been found somewhere in AZ every year since we
moved here in 1994. This bird is wintering with a flock of American
Wigeons at a small cemetery pond. There was some discussion about the
possibility of it being a hybrid with American Wigeon due to a small
area behind the eye that shows some green, but the general consensus
is that this is within the normal plumage variation of this
species.
