Place: Boyce-Thompson Arboretum, Superior, AZ, USA
Date: December 1994
Equipment: Nikon 8008, Nikkor EDIF 400/5.6 & TC14 converter (= 560/8), tripod
Film: Kodachrome 200

Commentary: This is the Audubon's form of the Yellow-rumped Warbler; the eastern counterpart is the Myrtle form which lacks the yellow throat.

This is an unusual setting for a wood warbler, and I was delighted when it landed on a rock near the pond I was sitting beside to take photos of Pied-billed Grebes. The light is very strong and contrasty - very typical here in the AZ desert. I like the "field guide" pose and don't really mind the texture in the background.
