Birds in Nature - images of wild birds by Richard Ditch

Subject: White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica)
Place: Phoenix, AZ, USA
Date: June 2002
Equipment: Nikon N90S, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (= 600/5.6), car window
Film: Fujichrome Sensia 100
Exposure: aperture priority matrix metered
Scan: Minolta Dimage, 90% of original frame (cropped left & right)

Commentary: With 100+ temperatures in Phoenix now there aren't a lot of opportunities for local bird photography. But the high temps bring blooms to the saguaro cacti, and the ripe fruit brings White-winged Doves. I've driven by this cactus near my house 100's of times but never thought of it in terms of the doves.
