Commentary: This meadowlark was another "target of opportunity" on my Christmas visit to Bosque del Apache in 1999. It paused briefly on a post by one of the prime viewing areas, and I pulled up as close as I could for a quick shot from the window before it flew away. It is very easy here to fixate only on the Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese that are present in such abundance, so I post this as a reminder to keep an open mind for other potential subjects.
