Birds in Nature - images of wild birds by Richard Ditch

Subject: Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)
Place: Arizona City, AZ, USA
Date: January 2002
Equipment: Nikon N90S, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (= 600/5.6), car window
Film: Fujichrome Provia 100 F exposed normally
Exposure: Aperture priority matrix metered
Scan: Minolta Dimage, 80% of frame

Commentary: Another lucky encounter with a bird while driving around on a low volume road. I braced my lens on the open window edge. When I'd shot what I could from this uncomfortable position I started up the car and drove away. The hawk remained on the pole top and continued with its meal.
