Commentary: We almost overlooked this cooperative bird on this visit to Bosque del Apache in central NM, who had picked this fence opposite the Visitor Center to soak up some morning sunshine. It stayed put while I got closer with the car and took a few frames from the car window.

Bosque del Apache is one of the real treats for bird photographers, who visit in great numbers during the winter to take photos of the large masses of Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese. I enjoy these abundant species as much as anyone, but also enjoy looking for other species that often get ignored.
