Commentary: Pied-billed Grebes are widespread water birds in the US, and I have taken photos of them in many states. At Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island it was possible to work very close to the water level while still staying on dry ground, and I think that low position is what makes this my favorite shot of this species.
