Birds in Nature - images of wild birds by Richard Ditch

Subject: Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus)
Place: Bosque del Apache NWR, New Mexico, USA
Date: November 2000
Equipment: Nikon N90S, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (= 600/5.6), car window
Film: Fujichrome Provia 100 F exposed normally
Exposure: Aperture priority matrix metered
Scan: Minolta Dimage, 90% of frame

Commentary: I've always been fascinated by shrikes; enough so that I've had SHRIKE as my vanity license plate in NJ and in AZ. This shot was taken from my car window as we drove the loop at Bosque del Apache NWR south of Socorro, NM. I need to rescan this to hold the detail in the white cheek better so it matches the slide.
