Birds in Nature - images of wild birds by Richard Ditch |

Subject: Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus
brunneicapillus)
Place: Phoenix, AZ, USA
Date: May 2001
Equipment: Nikon N90S, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (= 600/5.6),
tripod
Film: Fuji Provia 100 F
Exposure: Aperture priority matrix metered, natural light, no fill
flash
Scan: Minolta Dimage, 85% of frame
Commentary: From my backyard. This is my favorite wren shot to date.
I like showing some character with my bird photos. Also, I like the
strong diagonal lines here and the way the wren's body and bill carry
through this design element. It was necessary to take the slide out
of the mount before scanning so I could get all of the bottom
foot.
