Les Troupes de Lévis à Sainte Foye is a unit dedicated to representing those troops who fought under Généeral de Brigade Lévis at the battle of Sainte Foye in 1760. This battle was fought after the famous battle between Général Montcalm and General Wolfe on the plains of Abraham, which battle was fought in 1759. After the battle of Sainte Foye the French troops in the new world were forced to surrender to the British, although they had won the battle itself (as was true of most of the battles during this last of the French and Indian Wars).
We portray members of all the regiments who were sent over to help defend Nouveau France against the British incursions. These regiments included all five of the Troupe de Terre regiments above. There were also Compagnie Franche de la Marine (the French Marines) and La Milice (the town militias) present at this battle. All troops were treated as part of the line and expected to perform the same, regardless of their origin. So this is a particularly interesting battle to represent.
