Theatiki is an event held at Bourbonnais,
IL. This is on the north side of Kankakee, IL and is most easily
reached from the intersection of I-57 and US50. You go south from
this intersection, turn right at the first road to the right, and follow
the signs.
Theatiki is the local native americans
word for the Kankakee river. The event recreates a typical trading
camp of the mid-eighteenth century. There are also battle reenactments,
ceremonies, and many entertainments during the event. It is usually
held the weekend after Old Fort Niagara.
Our unit has been attending this small
event for 10 years.
Troops march to the site for the morning drill and inspection.
Our unit does a lot of drilling and marching while we are at events.
The unit prepares for inspection. Inspection is
always carried out by the unit regardless of whether the site does its
own inspection or not. We do not want any surprises and make sure
nobody will fail a later inspection.
The troops are informed of the days events as discussed
at the officer's meeting earlier that morning. This is when they
will be told of what to expect and when they have to be available for drill,
ceremonies, the battle, and whatever else is happening that day.
The unit leads the march of the French column. This is moving up to the battlefield on the second day. Our unit was given the honor of leading the column.
The French line of battle at the second days battle. Les Troupes is at the far end of the line. Since we are being treated as the grenadier company, we form on the right of the line of battle.
