January 29, 2002 Day 102, 769.5 hours This session was occupied with many nit-picking details. There seem to be a lot of "nits" to pick in Florida at this time of year! This is the elevator trim mechanism mounted on the canard. The fiberglass spring, driven by a small motor, provides tension to overcome aerodynamic forces in flight and relieve pressure on the controls. |

January 31, 2002 Day 104, 781.5 hours This "nit" is the oil access door in the cowl. This is where the dipstick is located to check the oil, and where oil is added to the engine. It has a tricky flush-mounted latch that was a lot of fun to install! |

February 6, 2002 Day 108, 810.5 hours The installation and fitting of the gull-wing doors is a major project. This is the inside view of the door showing the door latching mechanism. Four stainless steel pins are inserted into the door frame when the latch is closed. |

February 8, 2002 Day 110, 823.5 hours This is how the doors look when they are attached. They work fairly well, but further adjustment will be needed. After the doors are fully operational, weather stripping and trim will need to be installed. |
