October 9, 2001 Day 81, 614.5 hours While the wings were still attached, the aileron control system was fabricated, installed and aligned. The cable runs from the control stick in the cabin and operates the lever (bellcrank), which turns a tube (torque tube) which operates the aileron control surface in the wing. |

October 11, 2001 Day 84, 635.5 hours In preparation for the installation of the engine, a stainless steel firewall was installed over an insulating pad. This view is from the back of the aircraft. In addition to the engine, many systems and devices will be attached to the firewall. The wings have been removed for the engine installation. |

October 12, 2001 Day 85, 643.5 hours On October 12, the engine was aligned and installed using a hydraulic lift. The engine is a air-cooled six-cylinder opposed aircraft engine (Lycoming O540) with a rating of 260 horsepower. The engine is aligned within 1/8" using the cowling position as a reference. |

October 17, 2001 Day 88, 664 hours The remainder of the time for this session involved the installation of various parts for the fuel and oil systems, propeller governor, and ignition. This picture shows the fuel servo, rear oil cooler, and plumbing for the oil lines, electric fuel pump and fuel filter. |
