Day 340, 2283 hours

The interior turned out very well, and had exactly the look we wanted...tasteful and subtle.

The grey leather is relaxing, and the seats are comfortable.

This shows the rear section of the aircraft. Jeff provided us with a lot of nice little details, like a baggage pocket and vinyl-covered window frames.

We will have to move the headset jacks for the passengers to a more convenient location.  We kept tripping over the wires getting in and out.

Day 342, 2290 hours

The fire extinguisher is located under the pilot's seat.

In this picture, the seat is moved all the way back.  Normally, it would not be this conspicuous, but it is still easy to reach.

Another nice detail are the handles on the door frames, which make it easier to get in and out of the aircraft.

These are Volkswagen parts.

Day 344, 2299 hours

The FAA requires that the word "Experimental" be displayed in letters 4" high in a place clearly visible upon boarding the aircraft.

These are transfer letters that were made by a local graphics firm.

Another requirement is a data plate showing the serial number of the aircraft, engine type and serial number, and the builder.

This was present previously, but had to be re-installed after being removed for painting.

Day 346, 2305 hours

A thorough inspection underneath the aircraft proved to be a good idea.  Several ducts were stuffed full of paper to prevent overspray during the painting process, and the paper had not been removed.  After this final inspection, the aircraft was deemed ready for full use, and we flew cross country to Key West.

Nonetheless, many details still remain to be addressed.  Stay tuned!
