George St Martin sent this recipe for Creamed Dried Beef aka foreskins...
Good afternoon Rich.
Here is the recipe from Navy recipe card box for "CREAMED DRIED BEEF" J-32. I broke it down to five servings.
I think a lot of people make it out to be harder than it seems. This is about as easy as it gets.
INGREDIENTS
Medium White Sauce
Butter
2oz Simmer
butter and flour without browning.
Flour
1 oz
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Milk-hot 2
cups Gradually add milk whip
smooth
Pepper to taste
DRIED BEEF
Dried Beef
5 oz Soak
for 10 minutes
Cold Water to cover
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shortening
1 oz
Cook in hot oil till edges of beef begin to curl.
Add to sauce and blend
NOTE: 1 If beef is too salty, omit cooking in hot shortening. Soak beef in hot water 15 minutes and drain
before adding to White Sauce
2 Serve with toast, baked potato, cooked rice, cooked noodles,
or corn bread
