From Floyd Evans
Perhaps you may remember the story in the ships newspaper (on our trip to Aussie Land '62) about a young boy who was seriously ill. We put a can in the Control Room and the troops where depositing money in there ever day for this little kid. As you may remember (if CRAFT isn't to bad) the radiomen would copy the news via CW and then print several copies of the latest news. Everybody was just interested in what was happening to that young boy.
Of course as you remember it was all a hoax. However Dex & the Rm's thought it might be a way to augment the slush fund for our WestPac trip.

You might also talk about Bertram, Gaynell sleeping on watch topside and ending up in the Yokuska brig where the Marines straightened him out.
