US Borax will continue to provide collectors an opportunity to collect borate minerals during the annual Boron Rock Bonanza held at the Boron High School. Mineral samples will be available at the Borax Visitor Center in Boron.

Stoddard Wells

Verde Antique Marble, Tricolor Marble, Black Jade

Cars with average or better ground clearance.

80ish miles? 4.5 North of Victorville on I-15 to Bell Mt./Stoddard Wells exit. Then east 7 miles on Stoddard Wells Rd, (good dirt Rd). Stoddard Map.

 Hard rock mining. Bring eye protection, gloves, hammers chisels, etc.

Topanga Fossils

 

 

 

As of 12-14-01, we have been informed that the Topanga fossil site is on private property and has been posted No Trespassing.

 Jalama Beach

Jalama County park Site

 Fossil whalebone, beach agate, jasper, travertine onyx.

 Any vehicle.

 150 miles total. Take 101 to Santa Barbara and 36 miles beyond. Then 1-N for 13.7 mi. Then Jalama Rd.-W for 14.7 mi.

A secluded Santa Barbara County Park with excellent campsites and full hook ups. Restaurant and store on site. Around February is the best rock hunting. Can be windy.

 Lavic Siding

 Beautiful, colorful Jasper and Jasp-Agate & lots of it.

 Cars with average or better ground clearance.

 Material is scattered liberally on the desert floor.  Easy pickin’s.
